You will become a crucial part of the businesses success as it begins its journey, challenged with bringing a simple and easy menu to the site and its customers.


The site itself sits on the edge of a large residential area and parkland and has a beautifully decorated dining area seating up to 74 covers, plus a large garden area and a sheltered seating area that attract families during the summer months.
You will have a real passion and drive for delivering high quality, have good team skills and want to rise to the challenge to make the site the top destination eatery in the area. You will also demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by working across multiple Gastrotaverns restaurants as needed.


Job Description:


We are seeking an experienced and versatile Sous Chef to join our renowned Gastrotaverns group of restaurants. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our culinary establishments and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation. You will work closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen team members.


Your Role:


•    Assist the Head Chef in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our multiple restaurants within the Gastrotaverns Group.
•    Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and refine menus, ensuring a diverse and enticing selection of dishes.
•    Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and efficient work practices.
•    Lead by example, maintaining a positive and professional attitude while providing guidance and support to the team.
•    Ensure consistent execution of menu items, paying attention to flavor, presentation, and portion control.
•    Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining food cost control.
•    Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following all health and safety regulations.

 

Requirements:


•    Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume culinary establishment or multiple restaurant locations.
•    Culinary degree or equivalent culinary training is preferred.
•    Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and motivate a team.
•    Excellent culinary skills and a passion for creating exceptional dishes using quality ingredients.
•    Knowledge of various cooking techniques, flavour profiles, and international cuisines.
•    Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
•    Strong organisational and time management skills to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
•    Food hygiene and safety knowledge, adhering to industry standards.
